Yogi Bhajan gave his first public lecture in the US on January 5, 1969. He reached out to the youth who were experimenting with drugs, recognizing their deep desire to experience higher consciousness. Soon he was teaching at colleges and universities, openly revealing the technology of Kundalini Yoga for the first time in history. He traveled extensively in the '70s and '80s, and in 1973, founded 3HO SuperHealth, a drug rehabilitation program that successfully utilized ancient yogic wisdom.
A true teacher, Yogi Bhajan never lost an opportunity to serve. He inspired people in the West for over 34 years with his consummate mastery and compassion, gave over 8,000 recorded lectures, and authored many books to carry his teachings forward into the Aquarian Age.
Known affectionately as Yogiji to hundreds of thousands worldwide, Yogi Bhajan left his physical body on October 6th, 2004, at his home in New Mexico. His mission "to create teachers, not collect students” will be well served by the thousands of teachers who follow in his footsteps, making it their mission to share the art and science of Kundalini Yoga as Taught by Yogi Bhajan™.
